OTTAWA - The Lynx bounced back from yesterday's drubbing to beat the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees 6-5. The Lynx Spring record improved to 5-2-1, tops among Phillies affiliates.
Jayson Werth had three hits, to lead the Lynx, and a run scored. Gary Burnham paced the Lynx with two runs batted in, also scoring a run. Jim Rushford (2 hits, walk, run scored) and Chris Roberson (1 hit, run scored) drove in the other Lynx runs. Greg Jacobs and Matt Padgett chipped in the other Lynx hits.
Heath Totten got the start, allowing 3 runs over 4 innings, striking out 3. Jim Crowell allowed 2 runs over 2 innings before John Ennis, Jeff Farnsworth and Brian Sanches each threw a shutout inning to snuff out the Yanks' hopes for a comeback
The Lynx and Yankees will meet again tomorrow, facing off at the Yankees Complex at 1:00 pm.
The Ottawa Lynx will open the 2007 season, their first season as the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, in Rochester on April 6.
