The Lynx took the Washington Mystics into overtime before winning tonight's game 96-94. The play of rookie point guard Renee Montgomery was the turning point, has she scored ten consecutive points at one point the fourth quarter. Both teams combined to shoot 77 free throws in tonight's game. The Lynx shot a WNBA season-high 42, making 31 (.738 FT%). The Mystics shot 25-35 (.714 FT%) tonight. Nicky Anosike led the Lynx with a career-high 24 points, including 12 points from the free throw line, also a career high.
Highlight of the Night:
Nicky Anosike finished the night with career highs in points (24) and made free throws (12). Anosike shot 12-17 (.706 FT%) from the line. Anosike hauled in eight rebounds as well. Overall the two teams shot a combined 77 free throws in tonight's game.
Lynx Post Game Notes
Minnesota Lynx 96- Washington Mystics 94 (OT)
- Seimone Augustus underwent surgery earlier on Tuesday to repair a torn ACL. The surgery went as expected.
- The Lynx have now won three straight games against Washington and have improved to 10-8 over the Mystics in the all-time series.
- The Lynx improve to 5-0 against Eastern Conference opponents.
- Christi Thomas scored her first field goal of the season in the second quarter of tonight's game.
- The Mystics led 65-56 at the end of the third quarter. The Mystics outscored the Lynx 27-18 in the quarter.
- The Lynx went on a 10-3 run to take an 80-77 lead in the fourth quarter. During the run Renee Montgomery scored 10 consecutive points. Montgomery finished the night with a career-high 21 points off the bench.
- The Lynx and Mystics were tied 38-38 at the end of the first half. Nicky Anosike was the leading scorer in the game with 15 points, going 9-10 (.900 FT%) from the free-throw line.
- The Lynx shot a WNBA season-high 42 free throws in tonight's game. The previous high for free-throw attempts on the season was 35 by the Detroit Shock.
- The teams were tied at 81 at the end of regulation. Tuesday night was the first overtime game for both teams this season. After the fourth, Nicky Anosike led the Lynx with 24 points. Lindsey Harding led the Mystics with 20 points going into overtime.
- Nicky Anosike made a career high 12 free-throws on 17 attempts (.706 FT%) in tonight's game. She also recorded a career-high 24 points in tonight's game.
