MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The WNBA today named Minnesota Lynx center Sylvia Fowles the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played June 21 through June 27. The Player of the Week award is the 13th of her career (sixth with Minnesota) and first this season.

The 6-6 center led Minnesota to two consecutive wins, moving the Lynx to 7-3 in the last 10 games and 7-7 overall. During the week, Fowles averaged 28.0 points on 63.9% shooting, 16.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 4.5 blocks in 39.0 minutes per game.

In the two-game stretch, she registered a double-double in both contests, extending her WNBA career-record total to 172 (80 in a Lynx uniform). On June 23rd at Atlanta, she led all scorers with 26 points and tallied season highs with 19 rebounds and five blocks as Minnesota rallied back from an 18-point deficit to defeat the Dream. In the game, she grabbed her 2500th career defensive rebound, becoming the first player in league history to reach that milestone. In an overtime victory at home against Las Vegas, Fowles registered a game-high and season-high 30 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, four steals and four blocks in a season-high 40:29 minutes of play, the first stat line of its kind to ever be recorded in a WNBA game. This marked her 10th 30+ point performance of her career and her fourth with Minnesota.

Fowles currently ranks first in the WNBA in field goal percentage (63.5%) and steals (2.4) while ranking second in rebounds (9.9), fourth in blocks (1.8) and 13th in scoring (17.4).

Connecticut's DeWanna Bonner was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

The Lynx play next on Wednesday, June 30th against the Phoenix Mercury. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. CT and the game can be seen on CBS Sports Network.
