Lynx Beat Bisons To Bust Their Slump

May 17, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Ottawa Lynx News Release

Heath Totten led the way with seven strong innings of work as the Lynx snapped their five-game skid with a 4-1 win.

The win bumps the Lynx to 18-19 while the Bisons fall to 24-13.

Lynx Player Of The Game: Starter Heath Totten held the Bisons at bay, holding the North Division's heaviest hitters to one run on five hits over seven innings.

Game Recap: The Lynx jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning off recent call-up Aaron Laffey. Joe Thurston walked and scored on Lou Collier's RBI double. Gary Burnham followed that up with a double of his own to cash in Collier. Jim Rushford would bring Burnham home with a single to stake Heath Totten and the Lynx with a three-run lead. That would be more than enough, as Totten limited the Bisons offence to one run over seven innings. By that time, the Lynx had already extended the lead to 4-0 with another run in the bottom of the second. Chris Roberson doubled with two down and scored on Joe Thurston's RBI single. Kane Davis came out of the Lynx bullpen to shut the Bisons down for the last two innings. Davis struck out six batters over two innings. The Lynx snapped their season-high five-game losing streak with the win.

Next Game: The Lynx and Bisons face off Friday night under the lights for the fourth and final game of their four-game series. Game time is 6:05 pm at Lynx Stadium.

Probable Pitchers: Friday vs. Buffalo, 6:05 pm, Ottawa LHP J.A. Happ (1-2, 3.65) takes on Buffalo RHP Jeff Harris (2-2, 5.40).

In addition to the great promotions, fans can also venture up to the Upper Deck Sports Bar on the third floor of Lynx Stadium. The Upper Deck features nightly food specials and 30-cent chicken wings available after each Lynx home game!
