
Aaron Laffey Promoted to Bisons, Sikorski Sold to Japan

The Cleveland Indians announced today that they have sold the rights to Bisons pitcher Brian Sikorski to the Yakult Swallows of Japan's Central League. With the roster space, LHP Aaron Laffey has been promoted from the Double-A Akron Aeros.
Laffey, 22, was 4-1 with a 2.31ERA in six starts with the Aeros this season (35.0IP, 29H, 13R, 9ER, 7BB, 24K). That record includes four consecutive victories, April 17-May 5. Left-handed batters have hit just .194 (7-36) off him so far this season.
The Cleveland Indians 16th round pick of the 2003 First-Year Player Draft, Laffey was a combined 12-4 with a 3.16ERA in 29 games between Single-A Kinston and Akron in 2006. His 12 wins and 153.2 innings of work were both third in the Cleveland Indians farm system.
Sikorski, 32, was 0-1 with a 3.52ERA and 2 saves in 13 relief outings for Buffalo this year (15.1IP, 11H, 6ER, 7BB, 21K). Sikorski pitched five seasons in Japan from 2001-2005 and went 21-20 with a 3.51ERA.
