
Lynx Acquire Connecticut's First and Second Round Picks in 2011 WNBA Draft

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Lynx today acquired the Connecticut Sun's 2011 First and Second Round picks in exchange for the No. 3 overall pick in the 2010 Draft, Nebraska's Kelsey Griffin. The 2011 second round pick from Connecticut originally belonged to Tulsa before it was traded, along with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2010 WNBA Draft to Connecticut in exchange for forward Amber Holt and center Chante Black. The Lynx also selected Drexel forward Gabriela Marginean with the No. 26 overall selection.
Griffin, a 6-2 forward, averaged 16.0 points and 7.9 rebounds in her four years with Nebraska.
Marginean, a 6-1 forward, averaged 20.6 points and 7.6 rebounds in 125 career games spanning four years with Drexel program. Born in Romania, Marginean tallied 23.5 points per game as a senior, as well as 7.7 rebounds per game. A three-time All-CAA (Colonial Athletic Association) First Team member, Marginean has connected on .357 percent (89-of-249) of her three-point attempts for her career, including a .398 percent (39-of-98) clip her senior year. She was named the CAA Player of the Year honors after her junior season. Marginean led the NCAA in free-throw percentage her sophomore year, connecting on .915 percent (118-of-129) of her attempts. Marginean also became the fastest player in CAA history to score 1,000 points (58 career games).
