Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis edged Omaha 3-2 Tuesday night at AutoZone Park behind starting pitcher Lance Lynn.

Lynn struck out a season-high 11 batters over 6.2 innings en route to his seventh win of the season. The big right-hander struck out six of the first nine batters he faced, including five straight. He is the first pitcher to record 10-plus strikeouts since P.J. Walters last July. Lynn's only blemishes were a solo home run allowed to Mike Moustakas and a RBI-single to Ed Lucas in the seventh, which chased Lynn from the game.

The Memphis offense provided early run support with Ryan Ludwick crushing a two-run homer in his first at-bat of his rehab assignment. Ludwick finished the night 1-for-3, leaving the game after the fifth inning. Mark Hamilton's sacrifice fly in the third inning proved to be the winning run.

Josh Kinney worked a perfect ninth to notch his sixth save for the 'Birds. Omaha starter Gaby Hernandez was pinned with the loss giving up three runs on three hits and four walks across five innings.

Memphis hosts Omaha tomorrow night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Evan MacLane gets the ball for the 'Birds tomorrow night against O-Royals right-hander Luis Mendoza. For ticket information call 901.721.6000 or visit memphisredbirds.com.
