Lynchburg Hillcats News Release
The Red Sox beat the Hillcats 2-0 in the second-game of a three-game series at Memorial Ballpark. Lynchburg has dropped three in a row after winning four straight.
Salem struck first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Will Middlebrooks, who homered off Cats starter Jordan Hotchkiss last Sunday in Lynchburg, homered off him again a night ago.
The loss went to Hotchkiss (7-4) for Lynchburg (14-20, 43-61). The right-hander only allowed two runs in six and 2/3 innings in taking the tough-luck loss. The win went to starter Michael Lee (8-4) and the save to Kyle Fernandez (8) for Salem (18-16, 60-44).
The series concludes on Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. at Memorial Ballpark. Right-hander James Avery (6-3, 3.31) will get the nod for the Hillcats opposite righty Caleb Clay (4-9, 4.59) for the Red Sox in the finale. Tune-in for all the live action beginning at 5:40 p.m. with the Hillcats On-Deck Show presented by Honda/Suzuki of Lynchburg with the Voice of the Hillcats Scott Bacon on 105.5 FM KD Country and on the world wide web at lynchburg-hillcats.com.
