THE HILLCATS: The 'Cats last played Thursday in Myrtle Beach when they lost to the Pelicans 3-2 in extra innings...The game took 12 innings to find a winner, finally ending on a walk-off walk...LHP Matt Crim relieved RHP Mark Lamm with the bases loaded and two outs in the 12th and walked lefty Andrew Clark after working the count full...Lynchburg had three hits in the 10th inning but failed to score, stranding the bases loaded...Myrtle Beach loaded the bases in their half of the 10th with nobody out but Lamm pitched out of it, getting a 6-2 fielder's choice and a 3-2-3 double play to end the inning...INF Joey Terdoslavich led the Hillcats' offense going 4-for-6 with double but didn't score or drive in any runs...The Hillcats are still 27-32 in the second half after being dormant the last two nights...They sit in third place in the Northern Division 9.0 games behind the Frederick Keys in first place...

VS. KINSTON: The Hillcats are 5-12 against the Indians this year...There have been seven shutouts in the season series so far, and in 11 of the 17 games, one or both teams has been held to two or fewer runs...The Hillcats are now set to host the final series between these two teams after Hurricane Irene left Kinston's field unplayable...Four of Lynchburg's five wins this season against Kinston have come at home...

STORM WATCH: The Hillcats and Indians' series in Kinston was washed out due to Hurricane Irene this weekend and moved to Lynchburg...The 'Cats left Kinston after the Friday night game had been postponed to avoid the storm and stayed in Raleigh, NC that night...Once the storm hit with full force on Saturday the decision was made that Kinston's field would be unplayable and games should be played in Lynchburg...

BEST OF THE BRAVOS: Eight members of the Hillcats are ranked amongst the top 30 prospects in the Atlanta Braves organization according to Baseball America...That list includes C Christian Bethancourt (12), SS Andrelton Simmons (15), RHP David Hale (17), RHP Dimasther Delgado (18), OF Todd Cunningham (20), OF Adam Milligan (22), INF Joe Leonard (23) and 2B Phil Gosselin (25)...

HISTORY IN THE MAKING: INF Joey Terdoslavich went 4-for-6 with a double last Thursday...It was his 50th double of the season...He is now one away from matching the All-Time Carolina League single season doubles record set by Woody Fair with Durham back in 1946...

CARVING CARDENAS: RHP Eliecer Cardenas earned his sixth save of the season Wednesday night with two scoreless innings...It was his 28th game finished this year, which ranks fourth in the league...He lowered his ERA to a minuscule 0.85 (five earned runs in 53 innings pitched)...Among relievers he holds the lowest batting average against (.159) in the circuit and second-highest strikeout per nine innings pitched (11.89), despite not fanning a batter Wednesday night...It was just the sixth time in 37 appearances that he had failed to do so, and it was his first appearance of more than one inning without a strikeout...

YOU GO JOE: INF Joe Leonard has driven in 26 runs in his last 24 games going back to July 28...He is hitting .319 (29-for-91) in that span...Snapped an eight-game hitting streak Thursday in Myrtle Beach going 0-for-6 in the 12-inning contest...

PEN STREAKS: RHP Andrew Russell and RHP Jeremy Haynes both kept the Pelicans at bay Tuesday night while the offense mounted their come back...Both sport inflated ERAs, Russell (4.89) and Haynes (6.23), but they have figured something out recently...Russell is on a 10 inning scoreless streak...That includes two extended outings, last night's three inning performance, and a season-high four inning scoreless outing August 7, after starter Blaine Sims went down with injury in the third...Haynes' scoreless streak sits at nine and two-thirds innings over his last six plus outings...

G-'HOT'ROD: OF Geraldo Rodriguez went 1-for-3 Wednesday night with a walk and two strikeouts...Over his last 13 games he is hitting .311 (14-for-45) with seven extra base hits, five doubles and two home runs...He has hit safely in 11 of those 13 games and is currently on a seven-game hitting streak, including a game he entered late Thursday night and went 1-for-1 in his only plate appearance...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Clayton Cook was selected in the ninth round of the 2008 Draft by Cleveland out of Amarillo (TX) High School...Ranked ninth in the Midwest League with a 3.35 ERA in 2010 while playing for Lake County...Named to the 2009 New York-Penn League All-Star Team...Combined with the bullpen for a one-hitter on May 30 against Wilmington this season...Gave up one hit in six innings in that outing...Faced Lynchburg twice this season...Earned win May 19 in Kinston...Pitched five and two-thirds innings giving up three runs, two earned on eight hits...Pitched June 19 in Lynchburg on the last game of the first half...Pitched four innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits...Currently 8-8 with a 4.24 ERA...
