THE HILLCATS: Saturday, the 'Cats lost to the Frederick Keys 10-6...Six errors were committed in the game, four by Frederick and two by Lynchburg, causing five of the sixteen runs scored in the game to go unearned...Four balls left the yard...Jonathan Schoop, Michael Flacco, and Steve Bumbry each homered for the Keys, and Geraldo Rodriguez went deep for the 'Cats...Lynchburg fell behind 7-0 nothing after a five-run fourth for Frederick and never recovered...The Hillcats are currently in third place in the Northern Division at 24-31, 10.0 games back of the Keys in first place...

VS. FREDERICK: The Hillcats are 10-9 against the Keys this season...So far, Frederick has won both previous series in Lynchburg 2-1, but with Lynchburg taking the first two of the current series, the 'Cats will at least split this time around...The Hillcats took 6 of 10 games in Frederick this season...The road team is now 11-8 on the season series...

REMEMBERING MR. BASEBALL: Calvin Falwell, Lynchburg Baseball Corporation's Chairman of the Board, passed away last night at 90 years old...Mr. Falwell brought Carolina League Baseball to Lynchburg in 1966 when he formed and became president of the Lynchburg Baseball Corporation...His many honors in baseball include winning the John H. Johnson President's Trophy in 1998 and being named "King of Baseball" in 2005 at the Baseball Winter Meetings in Dallas, Texas...The field at Lynchburg City Stadium was officially named Calvin Falwell Field in 2004 in his honor...Mr. Falwell is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris, their three sons, Charles, Terry, and David, along with nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren...A moment a silence will be held prior to the first pitch tonight at City Stadium and the flag in center field will fly at half-mast for the remainder of the season...

FUNNY HOW THAT WORKS: The Frederick Keys own a league-best 75-49 record this season...Conversely, the Hillcats currently claim the worst record in the league at 54-71 overall...However, Lynchburg at 10-9 is the only team with a winning record against the Keys this season...

BEST OF THE BRAVOS: Eight members of the Hillcats are ranked amongst the top 30 prospects in the Atlanta Braves organization according to Baseball America...That list includes C Christian Bethancourt (12), SS Andrelton Simmons (15), RHP David Hale (17), RHP Dimasther Delgado (18), OF Todd Cunningham (20), OF Adam Milligan (22), INF Joe Leonard (23) and 2B Phil Gosselin (25)...

EXTRA BASES: OF Geraldo Rodriguez went 1-for-3 last night with solo home run...Over his last 11 games he is hitting .297 (11-for-37) with seven extra base hits, five doubles and two home runs...He has hit safely in nine of those 11 games and is currently on a five-game hitting streak, including a game he entered late Thursday night and went 1-for-1 in his only plate appearance...

SIMMONS SITS ALONE: With Jose Martinez, formerly of the Winston-Salem Dash, falling below the minimum number of plate appearances needed to qualify among the league leaders in the Carolina League, Andrelton Simmons now sits atop the leader board as the only batter with an average north of .300...He is hitting .305 after going 1-for-5 last night...He has been the epitome of consistency, not letting his average dip below .290 since the start of May...He's also put together three double-digit hit-streaks...Especially hot in August, he has hit safely in 16 of 18 game, batting .342 (26-for-76), driving in 12 runs, two shy of his best monthly mark of the season (14 in May...He has 10 extra base hits, seven doubles, two triples, and a home run, which is more than he had compiled in any other month this year...

CLOSING TIME: RHP Mark Lamm converted his first save of his professional career Thursday night sitting down three of four batters he faced in the ninth inning, securing the 5-2 win for the Hillcats...It was the first save opportunity for Lamm who was making just his 13th professional appearance (11th with Lynchburg)...A sixth round pick out of Vanderbilt this year, Lamm is the only 2011 draftee playing with the Hillcats...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: LHP Nathan Moreau was selected in the 11th round of the 2008 draft by the Orioles out of the University of Georgia...Split time between Delmarva and Frederick in 2010...Pitched a nine inning no-hitter in his Keys debut on June 30, 2010...Named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 28-July 4, 2010...Made two starts against Lynchburg this season...Pitched six innings on May 11, giving up three runs on five hits while earning the win.....Earned win on June 12, pitching six shutout innings and only allowing two hits while striking out eight batters...Currently 11-9 with a 4.16 ERA...
