The Hillcats continue a week-long homestand with the third of four games against Southern Division front-runner Kinston...The Indians defeated the Hillcats 7-3 last night...The K-Tribe have won each of the first two games of this series and have led at the conclusion of every inning...The Cats have now dropped a season-high 5 consecutive games...Over a longer stretch, the team is 2-10 in their last 12 games...Lynchburg has scored just 40 runs (3.33/game) over that stretch...The Hillcats are a season-high 4.0-games out of first place...Kinston is 4-1 to begin their seven-game road trip against Salem and Lynchburg...The Indians lead in the Southern Division is 3.0-games over Myrtle Beach...

- RHP Clayton Hamilton seeks his first win of the year against RHP Joe Ness, who has not allowed more than 2 earned runs in any of his first 4 outings this season.
- Ness, 22, is a 6-5, 230-pound right-hander selected by Cleveland in the 4th round of the 2005 draft out of Ball State University. The Indiana native spent 2005 with Mahoning Valley (A, NYPL) and compiled a 4-2 record with a 1.67 ERA (59.1 ip, 52 h, 15 r, 11 er, 19 bb, 68 k). Ness was selected with the 184th overall selection, the ninth-highest selection in Ball State history. A 2005 All-Mid-American Conference Second Team selection, Ness finished the season with a 5-5 overall record as the Cardinals' No. 1 starter on the mound.
