TONIGHT'S GAME:
The Hillcats continue a week-long road trip with the middle-game of a three-game series against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans...The Hillcats matched a franchise-record by stranding 16 baserunners in a 5-1 series opening loss...The Cats had stranded 16 men in game twice prior (last 7/19/05 vs. W-S...)The loss drops the Hillcats to 3-4 in series openers...Despite the loss, Lynchburg is in 3rd place, just 1.0-game behind both Wilmington and Potomac for first place in the Northern Division...All 4 Northern Division squads are seperated by a total of just 1.5-games in the standings...Myrtle Beach has won 6 consecutive games overall and 8 straight games at Coastal Federal Field....The Pelicans have the league's best home record at 12-3....
TONIGHT'S MATCHUP
- LHP Kyle Bloom (see page 3) makes his first start in 11 days against LHP Matt Harrison, who will be making his fifth start of the year.
- Harrison, 20, is a 6-5, 205-pound leftt-hander selected by Atlanta in the 3rd round of the 2003 draft out of South Granville HS. The Stern, NC native has gone 2-1 with a 2.66 ERA (23.2 ip, 22 h, 8 r, 7 er, 6 bb, 17 k) in 4 starts on the season. Last year with Rome (A, SAL), he went an impressive 12-7 with a 3.23 ERA (167.0 ip, 151 h, 65 r, 60 er, 30 bb, 118 k). He finished 2nd in the league in innings pitched and 3rd in wins. In 2004 with Danville, Harrison went 4-4 with a 4.09 ERA in 13 games and 12 starts.
- Was rated by Baseball America as having the best control in the Atlanta Braves minor league system.

Brian Bixler has reached base safely in 11 straight games (14-39, .359-0-4)...He currently ranks 8th in the CL in batting average...Matt Meath made the most of his first start of the season, reaching base safely all four times...In total, he went 2-for-2 with a 2B and 2 BB...Nyjer Morgan has hit safely in a season-high 4 straight games (5-16, .313-0-0) and has reached base safely in each of his last 7 games (8-25, .320-0-3)...

2006 SERIES WITH MYRTLE BEACH
The Pelicans lead the season series, 1-0. Lynchburg won the 2005 season series, 11-9, following their first ever series sweep of the Pelicans, home or away, 4/29-5/1 (away). The Pelicans won the 2004 season series, 14-6. In 2003, the Cats won the series, 13-7 -- marking the first time Lynchburg had ever taken a season series from Myrtle Beach. Overall, the Birds lead the lifetime series, 78-62 (.557) with a 42-29 (.591) edge at Coastal.
