Madison Capitols News Release
Middleton, WI - Forward, Ricky Lyle, has become the newest Madison Capitols player to lock up a college commitment after committing to play NCAA hockey at Army - West Point on Sunday. Lyle becomes the 10th active Capitols with a commitment, and second this season.
"The biggest thing for me was that it wasn't just a hockey decision, but that it was a life decision," says Lyle. "I knew it was going to be a place that could develop me, not only as a hockey player, but also as a person and leader. I can still play pro hockey if the opportunity presents itself, but if not, I am still getting one of the best educations in the world."
The native of Duluth, Minnesota was drafted in the 5th round of the 2019 Phase II USHL draft by Madison, where he has surpassed expectations and earned his way into a top six role.
"Ricky has really stepped up and been a reliable asset for us this season," says head coach Garrett Suter. "He's become one of the more reliable faceoff takers in the league, and we can use him in game-winning situations like final shifts or shootouts."
The 2000-birth year has amassed nine points this season (5G, 4A) over the course of 24 games played in his first USHL season. Lyle's value comes from more than production numbers, including the physicality, grittiness, and hard work he puts in every time he hits the ice.
Lyle and the Capitols return to action this weekend when the team heads to Green Bay to take on the Gamblers this Friday and Saturday at 7:05pm.
The next home game will be on Friday, January 24th for the first $1 beer night of the new decade.
If you can't make it out to the game, make sure to tune into Mixlr and HockeyTV to get the live call from broadcaster, Cody Lefkowitz.
Individual single game tickets for the 2019-20 season are available now! Call the Capitols Front Office at 608-257-CAPS (2277) or email at info@madcapshockey.com. The Capitols season is presented by Stoughton Hospital and the Orthoteam Clinic run by Dr. Ashish Rawal.
