Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers News Release
WILLMAR - With the bases loaded in the Bottom of the 12th, Tyler Harris hit Jake Stinnett to bring in Mitch Rowan from third base, as the Stingers defeated the Lunkers 2-1 in 12 innings Friday night at Bill Taunton Stadium. It was a pitching duel most of the way as Thomas Taylor was fantastic for the Stingers, going eight innings and giving up an unearned run, while striking out seven.
Jason Forjet was equally as good on the mound for Brainerd, going seven innings and giving up only one run. That run came in the Bottom of the 1st when a John Haberman sacrifice fly brought home Rob Elliott from 3rd base.
The Lunkers tied up the game in the Top of the 7th inning. With the bases loaded, Casey Roche would reach first on a fielding error from Willmar shortstop Jason Leblebijian. Ryan Abrahamson would score the only Lunker run of the game.
Jason West took the win for Willmar. He pitched two innings of relief and struck out four. Harris takes the loss for Brainerd.
The Lunkers fall to (12-8) with the loss, still one game back of Mankato in the North Division.
The finale of the three-game series between the Lunkers and Stingers is Saturday afternoon at 2:05. Aaron Conyers gets the start for Brainerd against John Haberman for Willmar.
