Clinton, IA - The Clinton LumberKings took the second game of a DH from the Cedar Rapids Kernels by the score of 5-1 and in doing so, snapped the Kernels winning streak at seven games. Kalian Sams hit a three run homer in the fourth inning and added another RBI on a bases-loaded groundout in the sixth.

Casey Haerther went 1-3 to extend his hitting streak to 13 games. Mike Trout went 1-2 with a stolen base and scored the Kernels only run on a sacrifice fly by Luis Jimenez. Clinton starter Jimmy Gillheeney (2-3) held the Kernels to a run on four hits and struck out five over six innings for the win.

Kernels starter Tyler Skaggs (1-2) allowed four runs on five hits, walked one and struck out eight over four innings. Tyler Kehrer walked two and struck out three over two innings of relief.

Game three between the Kernels and LumberKings is Saturday night at 6:30 pm from Alliant Energy Field in Clinton. John Rodgers brings you the action on the radio home of Kernels baseball, 1450 KMRY AM. Fans may listen on-line at www.kmryradio.com, or www.kernels.com.
