Burlington Bees News Release

Burlington, IA - In honor of Saturday's Armed Forces Day celebration at Community Field, Burlington Bees starter John Lamb rolled out some heavy artillery of his own in a 4-0 win over the Peoria Chiefs on Saturday night.

Lamb (W, 2-3) twirled a season-high seven innings, during which he allowed four hits, walked one, struck out three, and lowered his ERA to 1.57. Dusty Odenbach and Ryan Dennick pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth respectively to close out the Bees' first shutout of the year.

The offense came during a pair of early two-run innings. Joey Lewis and Carlo Testa each had hits and scored in the second, and Wil Myers launched his team-high fifth home run after Deivy Batista walked and stole second to double the lead to four.

Su-Min Jung (L, 4-2) was touched for four earned runs on five hits in five innings. The South Korea native struck out four and walked one.

Lewis had two hits on the night, and Testa and Gerard Hall each ripped doubles.

Sunday marks one of the biggest days of the season at Community Field as the Community Basket will be given away during the contest. Valued at over $17,000, the basket features a brand new Chevy Aveo, a necklace from Becker's Jewelers, and much more! Raffle ticket holders need not be present to win, but a $1,000 bonus will be awarded to the winner if he or she is in attendance. First pitch will be at 2:00 with gates opening at noon.
