Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

GENEVA, Il. - The Cougars were the beneficiaries of solid pitching on Saturday, as the Bandits dropped their second straight to Kane County, 4-2. Ian Krol (2-1) worked six shutout innings and allowed only two hits while Scott Schneider allowed just two hits over his four innings in the start for Quad Cities but didn't factor into the decision.

Deryk Hooker (1-2) ran into trouble through his three innings. He was charged with all four Cougar runs on four hits while getting saddled with the loss. Both fifth inning runs scored with two men out. In the seventh, the first run of the inning scored on strikeout wild pitch and the final run scored on a double steal with Anthony Aliotti swiping home.

The Bandits struck with single tallies over the last two innings. The run in the ninth came on solo home run by Ryde Rodriguez, his third of the season. C.J. Beatty led the team with his 2-for-4 game. Both hits were doubles.

The Bandits will go for the series split tomorrow when they send right hander Eric Fornataro (3-2, 3.08) the mound against Kane County righty Daniel Straily (4-1, 4.67). First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. at Philip B. Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva, IL.
