Burlington Bees News Release
(BURLINGTON, IA) The Burlington Bees lost a back and forth game against the Clinton LumberKings by a final of 6-5 on a Holiday Fireworks Night at Community Field.
The LumberKings took advantage of mistakes in the third inning by scoring three runs. The first came off of a throwing error by Bees catcher Stephen McGee that scored Lonnie Kauppila, followed by Jack Reinheimer single that scored Aaron Barbosa, and finally a sacrifice fly by Justin Seager that scored Reinheimer.
The Bees would answer in the fifth inning by scoring three runs of their own. Kody Eaves started the scoring off, by getting the first of his two RBIs by scoring Ranyelmy Mendoza. Tyler Palmer then got an RBI of his own by scoring Ismael Dionicio on a ground out, and Eric Aguilera got an RBI of his own by singling home Erick Salcedo. Salcedo continued to stay hot at the plate, by getting another two hits on the night.
Clinton answered in the sixth inning, scoring three runs. Reinheimer would get his second RBI on the night after a groundout.
A late rally in the eighth inning would bring the Bees within one run, after Eaves' second RBI, which scored Dionicio, and a LumberKings fielding error that scored Erick Salcedo. Aaron Brooks would shut down the Bees rally in the ninth inning, picking up his third save on the year.
Trevor Foss took the loss on the night, falling to (3-6) on the year, and Carlos Misell picked up the win for the LumberKings, improving to (7-8).
The Bees hit the road to start a three game series in Peoria, against the Peoria Chiefs Friday night at 5:30 PM. Harrison Cooney Makes the start for the Bees against Blake McKnight for Peoria.
