
Lumberjacks Fall to Steel 5-1

GENEVA, IL - The Chicago Steel handed the Muskegon Lumberjacks their second regulation loss in the last eight games, knocking off Muskegon 5-1. Tyler Irvine registered the lone goal in the fourth loss to the Steel this season.
The Steel controlled the first period of play jumping out to a 2-0 lead over Muskegon. Less than ninety seconds into the first period, Billy Sweezey opened to scoring to give Chicago the one goal advantage. The Steel doubled their lead with a power play goal from Samuel Bucek, 16:23 into the first period, and sent the Lumberjacks into the first intermission down two goals.
Chicago added another goal midway through the second period when Marc Johnstone batted in the rebound to give the Steel a three-goal edge. Tyler Irvine cut into the Steel deficit with a power play goal late in the second period. Chris Klack and Nate Kallen collected the assists on the goal, and the Lumberjacks trailed the Steel 3-1 after two periods of play.
Late in the third period, Chicago added two more goals less than one minute apart from Max Zimmer and Bucek to knock off the Lumberjacks 5-1. Joey Daccord registered 22 saves in the loss.
The Muskegon Lumberjacks (27-25-7) will close out their 2015-2016 regular season tomorrow night when they take on the Des Moines Buccaneers at 8:15 p.m. The Lumberjacks fell in a shootout to the Buccaneers last time the teams played one another back on January 23rd.
