Stampede Set USHL Single Season Attendance Record for Second Straight Year

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Stampede set the all-time USHL single season attendance record Friday night with a crowd of 10, 357 at the PREMIER Center. The Stampede finished the season with 200, 597 total fans, surpassing the old mark of 191, 280 set last season by the Herd. Prior to last season, the old attendance record was 189,844 fans set by the Omaha Lancers in 1997-98.

The Stampede finished the 2015-16 season averaging a league best 6,687 fans per-game at the PREMIER Center, up nearly 5% from last season in which they led the league in attendance, averaging 6,376. Since the 2012-13 season, the Stampede have increased their regular season attendance by 61%.

"It's been another remarkable season," said Stampede CEO/President Tom Garrity. "We are blown away by the loyal support from our fans and corporate partners. I want to thank the front office, hockey staff and ownership for all the pieces needed to achieve this success - we are a team win or lose on and off the ice. There is no question that Sioux Falls has become a hockey town and we are fortunate to have some of the best fans in all of hockey. We will continue to work hard to improve the overall fan experience and continue to grow next season," added Garrity.

Outside the USHL, the Herd rank in the top three in attendance amongst all 28 ECHL teams ("AA" professional hockey), fifth in all of 59 Division I college hockey programs and in the top ten among all 30 American Hockey League (AHL) teams, the top affiliate league of the NHL.
