
Lumber Kings Top Dragons 10-5 to Even Series

Clinton, Iowa-Jabari Henry hit two home runs and drove in four runs to lead the Clinton Lumber Kings to a 10-5 victory over the Dayton Dragons on Thursday night. The two clubs have split the first two games of the series with the rubber match set for Friday night. The Dragons fell to 9-18 with the loss. Clinton improved to 12-13.
The Lumber Kings built a 10-0 lead over the first four innings, scoring two runs in the first, three in the second, and five in the fourth. Henry, who began the night as the Midwest League's leading hitter with a .397 average, belted a solo home run in the first and a three-run shot in the second to key the attack. The second inning homer was his third long ball of the year.
Dayton's Nick O'Shea drilled a two-run home run to left-center field in the sixth inning to get the Dragons on the scoreboard. It was O'Shea's first homer of the year. The Dragons two more runs in the eighth to make it 10-4. Seth Mejias-Brean drove in one run with a two-out single that scored Jesse Winker from third, and another run came in on an error. The Dragons added an unearned run in the ninth to close out the scoring as Winker picked up an RBI ground out, bringing in Jeff Gelalich from third.
The Dragons finished with nine hits. Junior Arias and Robert Ramirez both had two hits. Winker scored two runs and O'Shea drove in two.
Dragons starting pitcher Ismael Guillon (0-4) suffered the loss. He worked the first three innings, allowing eight runs (six earned) on four hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Tony Amezcua tossed three innings in relief of Guillon, allowing five hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts. Jesus Adames closed it out for the Dragons, working two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.
The Dragons and Lumber Kings conclude the series on Friday at 7:30 p.m. EDT. Pedro Diaz (0-1, 4.82) will start for Dayton against Clinton's Dylan Unsworth (2-0, 3.10). The Dragons open a three-game series at Kane County on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The next home game is Wednesday, May 8 vs. Lansing.
