LANSING, Mich. - The Lansing Lugnuts (25-28, 67-56) snapped a season high eight-game losing streak, handing the Bowling Green Hot Rods (26-27, 63-60) a 4-3 loss in front of a Friday crowd of 8,986 at Cooley Law School Stadium.

Four different Lugnuts supplied early RBI base hits off of Bowling Green starter Chris Pike (Loss, 9-7), with Richard Urena knocking a first-inning RBI single before D.J. Davis, Ryan McBroom and David Harris got into the act in a three-run third.

That proved all for Lansing's offense, forcing the pitching to stave off the Hot Rods the rest of the way.

Chase Mallard (Win, 6-5) was up for the challenge, allowing three runs on eight hits and one walk in 6 2/3 innings in his fifth quality start of the season.

A Cristian Toribio two-out triple spelled the end for Mallard in the seventh inning, causing a stir of worry. But Colton Turner coaxed a threat-ending grounder from Thomas Milone, working the final 2 1/3 innings to record his first save.

In the winning cause, Lugs leadoff hitter Chris Carlson went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored and Davis, McBroom and Josh Almonte each collected a pair of base hits.

Saturday night is Lugnut Charities Night, presented by Dan Henry Distributing, featuring the 2015 Lugnuts Jersey Auction and postgame LAFCU Fireworks. Lugs left-hander Tim Mayza (1-1, 2.93) starts opposite Hot Rods 19-year-old Jose Mujica (1-2, 3.41), with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m..
