
Lugs draw 12 walks, drop Dragons 5-2

LANSING, Mich. - The Lansing Lugnuts (33-13) took advantage of 12 walks issued by the Dayton Dragons (17-30) pitching staff in a 5-2 victory on Thursday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.
The Lugnuts improved to 9-0 against the Dragons this season.
Andy Burns, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Chris Hawkins scored a run as part of a 3-for-5 evening, his fourth consecutive multi-hit game.
Lansing starter David Rollins (Win, 4-0) matched a season-high throwing five innings, allowing just three hits, one run, one walk and struck out four.
Relievers Aleson Escalante, Javier Avendano and Ajay Meyer combined to allowed just one unearned run in four innings. Meyer notched two strike outs in a perfect ninth inning to record his Midwest League-Leading 16th save.
The Lugnuts took an early lead with a run in the first and three more in the third inning against Dragons starter Dan Jensen (Loss, 2-4), who struggled with his command. The righty walked six, struck out one, and surrendered four runs on six hits in four frames of work.
In the winning cause, Lansing left a season-high 16 runners on base and went 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position.
The Lugs look to complete the three-game sweep of the Dragons on a Facebook Friday, May 25th, with postgame LAFCU Fireworks. Righty Marcus Walden (3-1, 2.16) starts for Lansing at 7:05 p.m., opposed by Dayton righty Radhames Quezada (1-5, 3.65).
