Great Lakes Loons News Release

LANSING, Mich. - Lansing Lugnuts (3-3) batters walked 10 times and gained nine hits to down the Great Lakes Loons (3-3) 9-3 on an extremely windy 49-degree and cloudy Friday night at Jackson ® Field.

Jackson Ferris battled high wind and command issues. The left-hander walked six, aiding five runs. Three straight free passes brought Brayan Buelvas home, who singled with one out in the first inning. Danny Bautista Jr. started the second with a five-pitch walk, and a groundout plated him, one of two runs in the frame.

Ferris struck out two in the third, staying in for the fourth. With a runner on first and one out, a sixth walk put two on and ended his day. Lansing would grab three runs in the inning after a Michael Martinez walk and balk, along with a passed ball and a Henry Bolte RBI single.

Great Lakes offensively had their most fruitful inning in the fourth. Alex Freeland worked a six-pitch walk, followed by a Chris Newell single. Newell stole second base, to put two in scoring position. A Kyle Nevin groundout scored one, and a Jake Vogel two-out two-strike base knock to centerfield netted the second run. Within one was the closest, the Loons got.

Lansing posted three more runs, a two-run three-hit sixth, and a one-run seventh. Eight of the starting nine Lugnuts got a hit.

Thayron Liranzo and Kyle Nevin both extended their on-base streaks to five games with singles in the eighth inning. Liranzo's with one-out, 107 off the bat to right field, and Nevin's with two outs to right, plating Liranzo.

Rounding Things Out

It is the first instance in 2024 and the first time since August 30th, 2023, versus Dayton, where every Loons pitcher appearing permitted at least one walk.
