Louisville City FC News Release
For everyone on deadline, here are some quick quotes from the Louisville City FC locker room after tonight's game in Pittsburgh. I've attached a PDF box score, and photos are available for download at LouisvilleCityFC.com/media. A video interview with coach James O'Connor is uploaded to Dropbox accessible on that same page. An interview with George Davis IV, who scored both goals, is uploading now.
COACH JAMES O'CONNOR
"I thought in the first half we played a little bit tentative. We were almost waiting -- feeling a little bit sorry for ourselves. I thought we could have passed quicker -- could have played quicker. In the second half, we were excellent. I think we completely dominated the second half."
"When you look at what happened tonight when we took the penalty and didn't get it, but the fight to come back and still keep going, keep going, keep driving and win the game speaks volumes about our guys."
MIDFIELDER GEORGE DAVIS IV
"There's nothing I'd rather do on my birthday than play a sport I love with some guys I trust and believe in. This was the result we needed." "It felt like it took me a while to get into the game. We always preach to focus on the next ball and the next opportunity, so I put myself in good spots if it happened. I was fortunate to get those opportunities."
"We haven't lost belief in our team. We're still striving to win a championship. It's good that we bounced back."
MIDFIELDER NIALL McCABE
"George Davis gave a nice little talk before the game about what it means to all of us and what it means to himself. It's his birthday today, so it's nice he got a present. But more importantly, he's happy he helped the team on top of the individual stuff. I'm glad we got the win. George can celebrate in style now."
"It just came out of the blue, I guess, with the two games we lost. It was refreshing to hear a different perspective other than (coaches) James (O'Connor) or Dan (Byrd) or the other lads on the team. Personally, he got me pretty pumped. It was a speech that got everyone fired up."
