
RGV FC Toros Host OKC Energy FC

Edinburg, Texas, August 5 - The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros (7,5,8) host OKC Energy FC (8,3,8) on Saturday, August 6th. The match will be the third encounter between the two clubs. The Toros were victorious at home 3-0 on June 11th and tied 0-0 on the road on July 2nd. The game will kick off at the Practice Fields at H-E-B Park at 7:30p.m.
Rio Grande Valley last hosted Sacramento Republic FC in a match that ended 0-0. Toros' Callum Irving had a memorable performance to keep the Toros with a clean sheet and give both teams a point. In the 40th minute Sacramento's Cameron Iwasa was one-on-one against Irving. The RGV goalkeeper came up with the huge save. Iwasa had a similar opportunity on the 88th minute. Callum Irving came out of his line and got the save to keep both teams deadlocked. A minute later, Danny Barrera shot a curler for Sacramento. His shot went wide left by a few inches. In the 90th minute, Harry Williams connected with a header forcing Callum to go full stretch for the save.
The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros did not concede a goal in the month of July. The Toros have totaled 360 minutes without seeing an opponent score on them. The last goal was on June 26.Didier Crettenand scored from the penalty spot for OC Blues FC in stoppage time.
OKC Energy FC last faced Sacramento Republic FC midweek on Tuesday, August 2nd. Energy FC could not hold off Sacramento at Taft Stadium and gave up the three points. Sacramento Republic FC defeated OKC Energy 1-0. The goal came in the 84th minute. James Kiffe scored in the 84th minute to give Sacramento the win. The match was USL's Game of the Week, which aired exclusively on ESPN3.
The Toros finish their five home back-to-back matches next week when Seattle Sounders FC 2 on Saturday, August 13 at 7:30p.m. That match will also be played at H-E-B Park Practice Fields. OKC Energy FC will be hosting LA Galaxy II on Saturday, August 13th as well.
