Norfolk Tides News Release

Luis Terrero led Norfolk's 13-hit attack with four base hits, but the Tides could not overcome an Andy Phillips grand slam in an 8-7 loss Thursday afternoon before 7,472 fans at Harbor Park.

Terrero continued his hot streak at the plate, falling a homer short of the cycle. The 27-year-old tripled home a run in the 1st inning, singled in the 5th, doubled and scored in the 8th, and singled home a run in the 9th to up his average to .360. Terrero leads all O's minor leaguers with 27 RBI, and has hit safely in 12 of his last 14 games, hitting .421 (24-for-57) with two home runs and 16 RBI over that stretch.

Norfolk had taken an early 2-0 lead in the contest, but Louisville took control of the game with a six-run fifth inning, highlighted by Phillips' grand slam. Phillips homered in each of the final three games of the series.

An RBI single by Terrero in the 9th inning brought the Tides to within one run, but Bats reliever Gary Majewski retired Oscar Salazar on a groundout with runners on first and third to pick up his second save of the season.

Tike Redman had two singles and two runs scored for the Tides, while Alex Cintron added two hits in the loss.

Jon Leicester (2-2) took the loss for the Tides, allowing six runs on nine hits in five innings of work. Leicester faced just four batters over the minimum over four innings before yielding the six runs in the fifth.

Adam Pettyjohn (3-0) earned the win for the Bats, allowing five runs on seven hits in five innings.

The Tides take to the road on Friday for the start of a three city, 10-game road trip. The first stop on the trip is Pawtucket, where the Tides will begin a four-game series with the Red Sox Friday night from McCoy Stadium. Radhames Liz (0-3, 5.35) will take the hill for the Tides against southpaw Michael Tejera (2-2, 3.86), with first pitch set for 7:05.
