Richmond, VA- The Indianapolis Indians beat the Richmond Braves 2-1 at The Diamond Thursday. Indianapolis struck for two quick runs and stranded five Braves in scoring position over the final six innings to gain a split of the four game series.
The Indians tallied in the first inning on an RBI single by Michel Hernandez. They stretched their lead to 2-0 in the second on an RBI single by Andrew McCutchen. The Braves cut the Indians lead to 2-1 in the sixth on an RBI double by Scott Thorman. The Braves advanced four runners into scoring position from the sixth through the eighth but were turned away.
Bryan Bullington did not walk a man in seven innings and earned the win. Scott Williamson took the loss. T.J. Beam picked up a save. The Braves Charlie Morton worked 7.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out six. Wes Timmons had three hits for the Braves. Andrew McCutchen and Jason Bowers had two hits for the Indians.
The Braves open an eight game road trip tomorrow at Louisville at 7:05 PM. Francisley Bueno is slated to pitch for Richmond against Justin Lehr.
