Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Indians have a blog on IndyStar.com for the second straight season. The exclusive internet feature can be found by going to http://blogs.indystar.com/indians/

The Indianapolis Star's web site receives over one million visitors each day, and is widely regarded as the state's No. 1 media web site. The Tribe blog is currently linked on the Indians/MLB page of IndyStar.com and the front page of IndyIndians.com.

In 2007, Trent Jewett became the first Indians manager to ever have a blog. This season, Tribe players will also contribute each week. After reading blog entries, fans will have the ability to post questions, comments and/or topic suggestions.

"This project was enjoyable last year, and we certainly appreciate the opportunity to do it again in 2008," Jewett says. "The blog is a great vehicle to discuss various topics with Indianapolis Indians fans. I am looking forward to bringing more fresh insights to the internet each week."

The Indians return to Victory Field on Friday for a 7:15 p.m. contest against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Tickets are available by going on-line at www.IndyIndians.com, visiting the Victory Field Box Office or calling Ticketmaster at 317-239-5151.

The Tribe's roster features three first-round draft picks (RHP Bryan Bullington, INF Neil Walker & OF Andrew McCutchen) and Pittsburgh's top three prospects (McCutchen, Walker & OF Steve Pearce).

In four seasons as a Pirates affiliate, Indianapolis has spent 474 of 487 days (97%) at .500 or better. The streak includes 281 consecutive in-season days from April 22, 2006 to Aug. 28, 2007. The Indians stayed above .500 for 145 straight days (April 5-Aug. 28) during the 2007 campaign.

Jewett guided Indianapolis to a 224-205 regular-season mark in his first three years at the helm (2005-07). The 2006 Indians earned a share of the International League's West Division crown after going 76-66, while the 2005 Tribe went 78-66 before advancing to the Governors' Cup Finals.
