Lou Merloni Rejoins Bisons Roster

The Cleveland Indians announced Sunday that they have optioned infielder Lou Merloni to the Buffalo Bisons. The Tribe needed a spot on their roster after recalling infielder Ramon Vazquez from the Herd.

Merloni, 35, began the 2006 in Buffalo and earned a promotion after 32 games with the Bisons. During that time, the infielder hit .316 (37-117) with 12 doubles, three home runs and 12RBI. Merloni was especially good at Dunn Tire Park, where he averaged .365 (23-63) with nine doubles, two home runs and nine RBI in just 17 games.

Merloni had his contract purchased by Cleveland on May 17. In 9 games with the Indians, he hit .211 (4-19) with a double and one RBI.

Vazquez, 29, was optioned to Buffalo from Cleveland when Merloni got his promotion. In 16 games with the Bisons, he hit .250 (15-60) with one double, one triple, one home run and nine RBI. With Cleveland this season, Vazquez is hitting .156 (5-32) with four RBI and three runs scored in 17 games.
