Durham NC - Kevin Witt smashed his International League-leading 17th home run of the season highlighting Durham's seven runs in the first two innings as the Bulls knocked off the Norfolk Tides, 8-2 on Monday evening at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
A night after blowing a 4-3 lead in the ninth inning, the Bulls jumped on the Tides with 12 hits and got solid pitching from RHP Doug Waechter (1-0) in his first start with the team this season. Fernando Cortez went 3-5 with a double, a run, and a RBI and B.J. Upton hit a two-run triple. Upton also assisted in both the Bulls' double plays on the night.
