Bakersfield Jam News Release

BAKERSFIELD, January 26, 2012 - Bakersfield's NBA affiliate, the Los Angeles Clippers, have assigned second-year guard Eric Bledsoe to the Jam, the team announced today. The assignment marks the 28th time in the 2011-12 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the second assignment to the Jam this season.

"Eric has reached the point in his rehab where playing in a game setting is the final step in satisfying his return to play criteria," said Los Angeles Clippers Vice President of Basketball Operations Neil Olshey. "If he performs as expected for Joe Resendez our Assistant Trainer and Howard Eisley, who will accompany him on his assignment for the Jam's next two games, we anticipate him rejoining our team for our trip to Denver this Saturday."

Bledsoe was the 18th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder, then traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. He appeared in 81 games with the Clippers last season, averaging 6.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.1 steals in 22.7 minutes, and was selected to the 2011 NBA All-Star Game Rookie Team, earning All-Rookie Team honors.

"We look forward to helping Eric regain his timing and conditioning as part of his recovery from his injury," added Bakersfield Jam Head Coach Will Voigt.

Named to the SEC All-Freshman Team, Bledsoe averaged 11.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists, and 1.4 steals in 37 games in his lone season at Kentucky.

Bledsoe will suit up for the Jam tonight against the Los Angeles D-Fenders and tomorrow night versus the Canton Charge, both at the Jam Events Center at 7 p.m. PT.
