The Salt Lake Bees (34-36) exploded for six runs in the first inning, enough to beat the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (32-39) 7-4 on Wednesday night at Smith's Ballpark.

The Bees found early success against former Bee Kyle McGowin as David Fletcher led off the game with a double and then scored on a Daniel Murphy ground out, marking the first Bees RBI for the three-time National League All-Star and Silver Slugger. Jake Lamb then doubled to score Jo Adell, Jordyn Adams singled and Chris Okey walked to load the bases before Jack Lopez deposited a 2-2 pitch over the left field wall for Salt Lake's second grand slam of the season. The Bees would add another run in the seventh on an RBI single by Okey and held on to win.

Lamb had four hits and extended his on-base streak to 23 consecutive games. The grand slam was the third home run in the last five games for Lopez while he rides an eight-game hitting streak featuring a 17-for-33 stretch at the plate. Carson Fulmer allowed a single run over four innings in his first start for the Bees. Jake Kalish took home his fourth win of the season with three innings of relief and Zack Weiss locked down his second save of the year.

Game three of the series between the Space Cowboys and Bees is Thursday night at Smith's Ballpark with first pitch coming at 6:35 p.m.
