LANSING, Mich. - A late collapse by the Lansing Lugnuts (9-8, 41.45) pushed the Great Lakes Loons (8-9, 42-45) to a 12-4 win on Sunday afternoon at Cooley Law School Stadium.

The Loons needed only two hits to score six runs in the eighth inning, aided by a pair of Lansing errors, and then added four more runs in the ninth to ease to victory. After a 14-inning win on the 4th of July, the Lugnuts dropped the final two games of the three-game series.

A crowd of 3,783 attended the game, with Cooley Law School Stadium welcoming a total attendance of 22,450 for the three-game series.

Reliever Brady Dragmire (Loss, 3-4) entered to start the inning with Lansing leading 4-2. After walking Jesmuel Valentin to open the inning, Dragmire hit Dillon Moyer with an 0-2 pitch.

An error by Dragmire allowed Joey Curletta to reach base, and Paul Hoenecke singled in a run. Josmar Cordero followed with a three-run double to left-centerfield to give the Loons a 6-4 lead.

The Loons added two more runs later in the frame on an error by Lansing first baseman Matt Dean, and plated four more in the ninth inning.

Trailing 2-0 in the sixth, Dean opened the frame with a solo home run, his fifth of the season. After a single by Mitch Nay and a Derrick Loveless double, shortstop Dawel Lugo brought in a pair of runs with a triple to give the Lugnuts the lead.

Second baseman Dickie Joe Thon followed with an RBI double to put the Lugnuts ahead 4-2.

Great Lakes reliever Ralston Cash (Win, 2-1) tossed 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.

Lansing starting pitcher Chase De Jong allowed one run in the first inning, but held the Loons off the board for the rest of his afternoon, finishing with 5.0 innings, one run on four hits, no walks, and four strikeouts.

After an off-day on Monday, the Lugnuts hit the road to face the Lake County Captains on Tuesday night. Right-hander Brad Allen (3-1, 4.34) starts on the mound for Lansing, with righty Mitch Brown (2-6, 3.81) pitching for the Captains.
