FORT WAYNE, IN - The Great Lakes Loons fell behind early and dropped a second straight contest to Fort Wayne, falling 4-1 to the TinCaps on Sunday afternoon at Parkview Field.

The Loons managed only five hits off a trio of TinCaps left-handers, starter Mike Watt and relievers Rob Musgrave and Zach Herr. The only real threat by Great Lakes over the first eight innings came in the fourth, when Alfredo Silverio singled and Kyle Russell was hit by a pitch. A double play off the bat of Tony Delmonico and a strikeout by Nick Buss got Watt out of trouble.

The TinCaps scored three runs in the first two innings off Loons starter Josh Walter. An RBI single by Justin Baum and a sacrifice fly by Allan Dykstra plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, and another sacrifice fly by Blake Tekotte drove in the third run in the second inning.

Fort Wayne added a run in the seventh on another, albeit somewhat bizarre, sacrifice fly. Kyle Russell made a diving catch on the warning track off the bat of Baum, but Drew Cumberland raced around from second base to score the TinCaps fourth run of the game.

Great Lakes managed a run on a pair of two-out hits in the ninth inning off Herr. Tony Delmonico doubled and scored on an RBI single by Nick Buss to help the Loons avoid the shutout.

Watt (3-2) picked up the win for Fort Wayne, working six scoreless innings and allowing only three hits while striking out six. Walter (5-2) took the loss for Great Lakes, his first as a starter, and the Loons fell to 5-1 in games he has started.

The Loons and TinCaps continue their series on Monday night at Parkview Field. Loons lefty Geison Aguasviva (3-0, 0.00) takes the mound opposite Fort Wayne right-hander Simon Castro (5-4, 3.80). Game time is 7:05 p.m., with pre-game coverage beginning at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN 100.9 FM and loons.com.

The Great Lakes Loons are the third-year Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers and members of the Midwest League. For more information about the Loons, visit Loons.com or call 989-837-BALL.
