LANSING, Mich. - Reynaldo Navarro went 3-for-5 with two doubles, spearheading a 7-1 South Bend Silver Hawks (4-6; 31-47) victory over the Lansing Lugnuts (3-7; 29-50) on Sunday afternoon at Oldsmobile Park.

The loss for Lansing felt an awful lot like a 7-3 defeat the night before, with South Bend's offense pounding out 14 hits to support a strong pitching effort. In the two games played thus far in the series the Silver Hawks have 31 hits, seven from Reynaldo Navarro.

The shortstop is batting 17-for-36 against Lansing in 2009, a .472 batting average, helping South Bend to nine wins in 12 meetings with the Lugnuts. Against the rest of the Midwest League, comparatively, Navarro's batting average drops to .193.

South Bend starting pitcher Brett Moorhouse (4-8) earned the victory, limiting Lansing to just one run on four hits over six solid frames.

Lugnuts starter John Anderson (2-6) suffered the loss, allowing 11 hits and four runs in his six innings.

In defeat, Lansing shortstop Tyler Pastornicky went 1-for-3 to extend his season-high hitting streak to 13 games and stole his 38th and 39th bases of the season to move into second place in the Midwest League.

On Monday at 7:05 p.m. at Oldsmobile Park, the two teams will play the third game in the four-game series. Right-hander Jonas Cuotto (1-4, 5.66) will make the spot-start for Lansing, taking on right-hander Randy Rodriguez (1-6, 5.36) for South Bend.
