Mobile BayBears News Release
MOBILE, Ala. - A five-run first inning put Patrick Corbin on the ropes early as the Chattanooga Lookouts secured a 10-7 victory over the BayBears on Thursday night at Hank Aaron Stadium to even their five-game series at two games apiece.
Corbin (8-7) recorded the first two outs with no issue before Alex Castellanos reached with a single. He scored on a base hit from Brian Cavazos-Galvez to put the Lookouts (58-51, 23-16) on the board. Travis Denker followed with a two-run double while Elian Herrera banged a two-run homer to cap off the Chattanooga rally.
In the third, the Lookouts expanded their cushion to six as Denker scored on a throwing error by Josh Ford while Herrera was attempting to steal second. Chattanooga pushed home two more in the sixth against Clay Zavada as Cavazos-Galvez and Herrera each picked up an RBI single to make it 8-0.
Allen Webster (4-1) limited the BayBears (66-43, 28-11) to just two hits in the first five frames but began to falter in the sixth when Marc Krauss crushed a three-run homer to put the BayBears on the board. Webster struck out nine over his six innings of work.
Kyle Greene poked his first home run of the season in the eighth off Josh Wall to cut the Lookouts' lead in half. Krauss doubled home Taylor Harbin to pull the BayBears within three. They wouldn't get any closer as Griff Erickson blasted a two-run shot off Yonata Ortega in the top of the ninth. The BayBears got both of those tallies back in the bottom of the ninth with run-scoring singles from Ollie Linton and Greene. Josh Ellis was a bright spot out of the BayBears' bullpen as he tossed two perfect innings with three strikeouts.
The BayBears take on the Lookouts in the finale of their five-game series on Thursday night at 7:05. Right-hander Jarrod Parker (9-6) starts for the BayBears against fellow righty Stephen Fife (0-0).
