Long Island Tops Canton to Win Franchise-Record Sixth Straight

LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets (27-14), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Canton Charge (17-25) 106-102 at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. After defeating Canton, the conference-leading Nets have registered wins against every team in the Eastern Conference this season.
Brooklyn two-way forward/center Alan Williams led the team with 20 points and had eight rebounds, two assists and a block in 28 minutes. Brooklyn guard/forward Dzanan Musa scored 17 points and had six rebounds, six assists and a steal in 31 minutes off the bench while on assignment with Long Island. Brooklyn guard Tahjere McCall, also on assignment with Long Island, scored 15 points with seven rebounds and four assists in 28 minutes.
After four lead changes in the first quarter, the Nets outscored the Charge 26-22 to take a four-point lead into the second. Alan Williams led all scorers in the first quarter with nine points. The second quarter had even more lead changes with eight in the quarter alone, but the Nets still took a three-point lead into halftime by a score of 51-48.
The Nets added to their lead in the third quarter, buckling down defensively to allow just 16 points compared to their 26 points in the quarter. Long Island carried a 13-point lead into the final period, leading the Charge 77-64. With a clutch 3-pointer by Dzanan Musa and some free throws down the stretch, Long Island held onto their lead, ultimately defeating Canton 106-102.
Canton guard Malik Newman scored 30 points with two rebounds, four assists and a steal in 27 minutes off the bench. Cleveland two-way forward Jaron Blossomgame scored 17 points with nine rebounds, two assists, a steal and two blocks in 35 minutes.
Long Island will take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at home on Wednesday, Mar. 6, at 7 p.m. ET, while Canton will return home to take on the Wisconsin Herd on Saturday, Mar. 9, at 1 p.m. ET.
