
Long Island Nets Topped by Greensboro

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Long Island Nets (1-2), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, lost to the Greensboro Swarm (1-2) 123-95 tonight at HP Field House.
Nets two-way forward Reggie Perry led the way for Long Island in the loss, scoring a team-high 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field with 13 rebounds and an assist in 27 minutes, recording his second-straight double-double.
Long Island forward BJ Johnson finished with 15 points, six rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes of play, while Nets guard Elie Okobo added 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field with six rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes of action.
Charlotte Hornets center Vernon Carey Jr., currently playing on assignment with Greensboro, finished with a game-high 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field to go with six rebounds, a steal and a block in 31 minutes of play. Swarm guard Kobi Simmons scored 22 points and added six rebounds, seven assists, a steal and a block in 33 minutes.
The Nets fell behind early but cut their deficit to one, 14-13, on a 3-pointer from Long Island guard Shannon Scott just before the midway point of the first quarter. Greensboro stayed ahead, however, shooting 11-of-20 (.550) from the field in the frame for a 30-23 lead entering the second.
Greensboro extended its advantage to 15 points with 6:22 remaining in the half after back-to-back long-range jumpers. Long Island battled back late in the quarter, using a 9-2 run over the final two minutes of the second - featuring seven points from Perry - to bring the Swarm's lead down to 57-53 at halftime.
Long Island stayed hot, going ahead 65-64 on a Johnson three-point play just 2:14 into the third quarter, but the Swarm responded. Greensboro outscored the Nets 28-24 in the third for an 85-77 edge entering the final quarter of play.
The Swarm took control in the fourth, going on a 14-2 run over a four-minute span to extend their lead to 105-86 with 5:35 left in the contest. Greensboro did not look back, scoring 38 points in the final quarter to secure a 123-95 victory.
The Nets will host the Erie BayHawks next in the second game of a back-to-back set on Monday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m. ET at HP Field House, while the Swarm will face the Delaware Blue Coats next on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. ET.
