Long Ball Sends Lemurs to Victory

Laredo, TX - Harrison Kain and John Allen each hit two run home runs to lead the Laredo Lemurs (18-11) to a 4-1 victory over the El Paso Diablos (6-22) on Saturday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.

Harrison Kain's homerun came after Brian Peterson led off the third inning with a single.  Kain who hasn't played since June 6, due to a quad injury came to the plate for his first at bat and launched the ball over the left field wall to give the Lemurs a 2-0 lead.

John Allen's homerun came in the fifth when with two outs and runner at first base.  Allen smacked a no doubt homerun over the left field wall to give the Lemurs a 4-1 lead.  Allen's homerun put him five hits away from the all-time hit record in the American Association.  The record belongs to Bryan Fryer who put up 670 hits, and played with Allen in Fort Worth.

Lemurs starting pitcher Garrett Rau (2-1) earned the victory in his first start of the season, after making seven relief appearances this year. 

Mike Benacka earned his fourth save of the year and his third straight save in a row against El Paso as he pitched a flawless ninth. 

Anthony Smith (0-1) got the start for the Dialbos and pitched the full eight innings taking the loss after giving up the two homeruns to the Lemurs.   

The Laredo Lemurs will be at Uni-Trade Stadium through Wednesday, June 19as they face off against the El Paso Diablos and the Sioux Falls Canaries.
