May 15, 2022 - Florida State League (FSL) - Clearwater Threshers News Release
CLEARWATER, FL - The Clearwater Threshers smashed four home runs for a second straight game in an 8-0 shutout win over the Daytona Tortugas on Sunday afternoon at BayCare Ballpark.
Left-hander Matt Osterberg made his fourth start of the season for Clearwater, allowing only one hit, one walk and striking out four in three solid innings of work.
The Threshers (18-12) opened the scoring in the second on three solo homers including back-to-back shots from Marcus Lee Sang and Anthony Quirion, before Jamari Baylor lifted his second long ball out to make it 3-0.
Leading 3-0 in the fourth, the Threshers added two more on an RBI single by third baseman Hao Yu Lee and a Tortugas (13-20) error to push the lead to 5-0.
With the Threshers leading 5-0 in the sixth, Lee blew the contest open with his fourth homer in as many games, a three-run shot out to right-center to make it 8-0. Lee finished 3-for-5, including his fifth homer of the season, and now leads the Florida State League in RBI with 29.
Righty Kyle Glogoski was credited the win in his 2022 Clearwater debut, allowing three walks and striking out four in two middle innings of work. Fellow right-handers Carlos Betancourt and Tommy McCollum went onto finish the game for the Threshers on the mound, giving up a combined three hits and striking out four to preserve the shutout.
The win was the Threshers fifth consecutive victory, as they secured five of the six contests from the Tortugas throughout the week.
