London Knights News Release
LONDON, ONTARIO: The London Knights Hockey Club is pleased to announce that they have partnered with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario to raise money for heart month in an event titled "House with Heart". A press conference will take place on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. on the main concourse level at the John Labatt Centre to officially announce the date and details for the House with Heart event.
Heart and Stroke Foundation representatives as well as London Knights front office staff will partake in the press conference, followed by a demonstration by the Heart and Stroke Jump Rope team and London Knights players.
House with Heart will take place on Friday, February 25, 2011 at the Knights game versus the Owen Sound Attack. A series of fundraising efforts will take place the month leading up to and during the game with all money raised going to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in the London area. Commemorative jerseys will be worn by the players and later auctioned off to the public in an effort to raise additional funds.
"As an organization, it is important to us that we give back to the community and raise money for those in need," said London Knights General Manager Mark Hunter. "With members of our organization personally affected by heart disease and stroke, the partnership with the Heart and Stroke Foundation was a logical choice. We are excited for Londoners to come together and raise money for such a great cause."
The London Knights hope to paint the John Labatt Centre red during House with Heart on February 25 by asking all fans and patrons attending the game to wear red, and encouraging everyone to purchase a red heart that will be on display in support of the cause.
