Spirit Outshoot Generals but Fall 4-1

The Saginaw Spirit suffered a 4-1 loss to the Eastern Conference's Oshawa Generals Friday night at The Dow Event Center of Saginaw. Spirit forward John McFarland tallied the lone Spirit goal in the effort, with Ivan Telegin posting an assist. The Spirit lead the OHL Western Conference with 68 points and a record of 32-12-3-1.

The team wraps up their weekend series Saturday, January 29 with the annual MCVI Foundation's Shocks and Saves Charity Game at 4:30 PM followed by the Spirit match-up against the Niagara IceDogs. Less than 350 tickets remain for the event.

The teams traded goals in the first period, with Oshawa's Nicklas Jensen and Saginaw's John McFarland both scoring. The Generals built up a lead with a goal from Emerson Clark in the second period and a marker from Lucas Lessio early in the third period. The Generals rounded out the scoring with an empty net goal from Andy Andreoff late in the game.

Spirit goalie Mavric Parks posted 30 saves on 33 shots, while Generals netminder Peter Di Salvo notched 37 saves on 38 shots.
