
London Knights Announce Coaching Change

LONDON, ONTARIO: The London Knights Hockey Club today announced that General Manager Mark Hunter has been appointed as Head Coach of the London Knights.ÃÂ Hunter, 49 takes over as Head Coach of the Knights from brother Dale Hunter who today was named Head Coach of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League.ÃÂ
The London Knights Hockey Club would also like to congratulate Dale on his appointment as Head Coach of the Capitals.ÃÂ Mark Hunter will take over as Head CoachÃÂ immediately and will be behind the bench when the London Knights host the Saginaw Spirit on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the John Labatt Centre.
In making the announcement London Knights General Manager/Head Coach Mark Hunter had the following statement. "I would like to congratulate Dale on his appointment and wish him all the best with the Washington Capitals this season.ÃÂ Becoming a Head Coach in the National Hockey League has been a goal of Dale's during his career. He has a proven track record of developing NHL players and his playing and coaching experience will serve him well in his new challenge. I also look forward to my new opportunity as Head Coach of our Hockey Club.ÃÂ Our team is off to a solid start in the first quarter of the season. We have a core group of young players that are passionate, dedicated and hard working. Additionally, we have a lot of character and leadership in the locker room. Dale and I purchased this team together 11 years ago and we remain committed to helping all of our players develop as hockey players and as young men.ÃÂ ÃÂ We look forward to continuing our winning tradition here in London."ÃÂ
Mark served as the Head Coach of the Sarnia Sting in the Ontario Hockey League from 1994-1996 before moving on to be the Head Coach of the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League for one season. Mark then served as the General Manager/Head Coach of the Sarnia Sting from 1997-2000.
