Soo Greyhounds News Release

They may have a busy week ahead on the ice, but for the Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club that didn't stop them from lending a hand to a very worthwhile community program on Monday morning.

Eleven players, along with the team's Business Operation's staff, joined other local volunteers at the Christmas Cheer Depot located in the former Sir James Dunn Vocational School.

The morning started with a brief information session on what Christmas Cheer does for our community followed by a tour of the various workstations and then it was to the task at hand - emptying and sorting the "Stuff-A-Bus". All donated items had to be separated into various categories including new, used, knitted and food items.

And after approximately 50 minutes the team managed to unload everything from the bus and into the facility. It was overwhelming to see the response from our community for this year's event, and how many items you can actually fit into the Sault Transit Stuff-A-Bus.

To everyone who has donated to Christmas Cheer, thank-you for supporting those who are less fortunate in our region. Through your generosity you will help brighten the holiday season for many families.

Anyone still wishing to make a donation can drop off goods at the Christmas Cheer Depot Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wellington Street entrance of Sir James Dunn.

The depot will also be open on two Saturdays - December 3rd and 10th - from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It was a pleasure for our organization to play another part in helping with Christmas Cheer!
