
Lomberg Shorthanded Goal Sparks Comeback Win over San Jose

STOCKTON, Calif. - Ryan Lomberg's shorthanded goal EARLY in the third period tied a tight contest at one apiece and sparked a 4-1 comeback win for the Stockton Heat over the San Jose Barracuda Sunday night at Stockton Arena. The shorthanded goal, Lomberg's third of the season, was the first of two on the night for him, in addition to an empty-netter. Kerby Rychel claimed the game-winning goal on the power play with just 6:03 remaining in the contest, beating Antoine Bibeau for a lead Stockton would not relinquish as it was followed by empty netters from Lomberg and Spencer Foo. Jon Gillies came up big for the Heat between the pipes, turning away 36 of 37 shots faced on the night.

- Ryan Lomberg pulled Stockton to a 1-1 tie in the third with his third shorthanded goal of the season, tying him with Tyler Graovac and Curtis Lazar for the team lead. Lomberg has two shorthanded goals in the club's last three games.
- Kerby Rychel lit the lamp for the second-straight game with what proved to be the game-winning goal.
- Jon Gillies has won four of his last five starts between the pipes for the Heat.
- The comeback win was the first time since Dec. 29 at Tucson that Stockton won a game when trailing after 40 minutes.
- The Heat have now won three straight at home.

The Heat play host to the San Diego Gulls on Friday and Saturday for Mardi Gras Night and Star Wars Night, respectively. The games are the first of the club's March Madness ticket promotions.
