TONIGHT
The Heat look to rebound following a 4-3 setback at Ontario Wednesday night, a loss that snapped Stockton's two-game win streak from last weekend. Stockton unleashed a season-best 47 shots on goal in the comeback bid after the Heat fell behind 3-0 and 4-1 early on, but Reign netminder Cal Peterson turned away 44 to allow Ontario to hold on for a 4-3 win.
QUINE ON FIRE
Alan Quine has caught fire on the offensive end, entering tonight's game on a six-game scoring streak with eight points (5g,3a) in that span. Quine has posted four goals in Stockton's last two contests, a hat trick on Sunday followed by a three-point night with a goal on Wednesday. He comes into tonight's game as the Heat's leader in assists, one shy of 30 for the season.
RYCHEL HITS 20
Kerby Rychel registered his 20th goal of the season in Wednesday's game, setting a new career-best for goals in a season. Rychel had a previous high of 19, set with the Toronto Marlies in the 2016-17 season when he finished with 52 points. Through 49 games played this year, Rychel has 38 points.
SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS
Stockton ran up a season-high 47 shots on goal in Wednesday's game, besting the previous high of 46. Ryan Lomberg set a new individual high with eight of his own in the game. It was the first time the Heat surpassed the 40 shots on goal mark since January 5, a 7-6 win over the Colorado Eagles. Oddly enough, the Heat are just 3-3 when running up a shot tally beyond 40, outshooting opponents by an average of nearly 20 shots in those contests.
SPECIAL TEAMS EDGE
Despite the Barracuda's dominance in the season series, Stockton has owned the special teams battle against San Jose. The Heat come into tonight's game 11-for-32 on the man-advantage against the Barracuda and 33-for-38 on the penalty kill, both well above the club's season averages.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
Stockton has looked to its youth in big situations, with four of the Heat's last five game-winning goals coming from rookies, three of which off the stick of Dillon Dube and the fourth from Matthew Phillips. On the defensive end, 20-year-old Juuso Valimaki continues to eat big minutes along the blue line while playing in all situations.
