
Logo Tournament Ranks Thunder As ECHL's Best

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder logo was awarded champion of an ECHL logo tournament hosted by the website http://hockeylogos.blogspot.com in an online fan vote, lasting from November 26 to January 1.
The tournament, which featured a five-round bracket involving every logo around the league, pitted the Thunder in the final round against the Augusta Lynx, with 61 percent of online fans favoring the Thunder logo over Augusta.
Below is a summary of the Thunder logo's advancement through the tournament:
ROUND ONE: Stockton Thunder def. Utah Grizzlies, 62-38 percent
ROUND TWO: Stockton Thunder def. Florida Everblades, 58-42 percent
ROUND THREE: Stockton Thunder bye
ROUND FOUR: Stockton Thunder def. Alaska Aces, 53-47 percent
ROUND FIVE: Stockton Thunder def. Augusta Lynx, 61-39 percent
Unveiled at a press conference at Valley Brew Family Restaurant on May 23, 2005, the Thunder logo features an artistic rendering of Thor, the Norse "god of thunder" wielding a hockey stick with an italicized "Stockton Thunder" script at the base of the logo with black, gold, white and grey colors.
The Thunder logo was designed by Joe Bosack, president and founder of The Joe Bosack Graphic Design Company, who also designed the ECHL logo, the Kelly Cup Playoffs logo, the 15th Anniversary logo, the 20th Anniversary logo as well as the logos for the ECHL All-Star Games each of the past five years.

The National Hockey League was also featured in the website's online logo tournament, with the Montreal Canadiens winning the NHL's "Best Logo" tournament and the Washington Capitals winning the "Best Secondary Logo" honor. The Edmonton Oilers, the NHL affiliate of the Thunder, won the website's "Best NHL Third Jersey Logo" tournament.
The Buffalo Sabres and Hartford Whalers were voted co-champions in the website's "Best NHL Vintage Logo" tournament.
The ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons and host of the 2008 Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game and festivities on Jan. 22-23 at Stockton Arena, the Thunder has led the ECHL in attendance for two consecutive seasons and drew 244,085 fans to Stockton Arena in 2006-07.
