La Crosse Loggers News Release

LA CROSSE, WI - In an offensive showdown, the La Crosse Loggers were unable to power past the St. Cloud Rox last night.

The Loggers struck first in the 2nd inning, when Connor Walsh (Rice) hit a towering 3-run home run to left field, plating Blaise Priester (Meridian CC) and Reed Stallman (Des Moines Area CC). Walsh finished his night with a team-high of 5 RBIs.

In the 3rd and 4th innings, the Rox positioned themselves in the driver's seat by exploding for a combined 9 runs. The offensive catalysts were Will Worthington (San Diego), who hit a 3-run bomb in the 3rd, and Brice Matthews (Nebraska), who also went yard in the 4th. Worthington finished with a career night, going 3-for-3 with a homer and 7 RBIs.

After being down 6 runs, the Loggers tried to mount a comeback in the 5th frame. They batted around the order, receiving more production from Connor Walsh and Emilio Corona (Rice), who both recorded RBIs during the rally.

The rest of the contest was dominated by the Rox, who scored in each of the remaining innings. Several bullpen pitchers helped secure their road victory, with Tyler Cornett (West Texas A&M) and Danny Glenos (Montevallo) tossing a combined 2.1 scoreless frames to end it.

Both teams will face off again tomorrow in La Crosse. At Copeland Park, there will be a "Peanut Man Bobblehead Giveaway" presented by Kwik Trip. The first pitch is at 6:35pm CT at Copeland Park. Fans can watch live at https://northwoodsleague.com/watch-nwl/.
