Adirondack Phantoms News Release

GLENS FALLS, NY - The Adirondack Phantoms are proud to announce that defenseman Logan Stephenson has been named the team's winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Adirondack community during the 2009-10 season.

Throughout the 2009-2010 season, Stephenson has gone above and beyond to be the most active Phantoms player in community appearances. With the team moving up to Glens Falls during the summer, it was imperative that a strong presence in the community was developed to help quickly ingratiate the Phantoms with the Adirondack region. Stephenson spearheaded this effort from the player's perspective, attending everything from school and sponsor visits, to charity work and interacting with fans during meet-the-team events.

In one particularly notable example in early February, Stephenson was involved with the American Cancer Society's Dining to Donate initiative at a local Applebee's restaurant. There he spoke with patrons about donating a portion of their bill to the ACS, while also signing autographs, posing for photographs and even joining the restaurant's staff to serenade one customer who was celebrating a birthday.

Stephenson's friendly, outgoing personality has made him a fan favorite at all team functions this year, including the post-game skate, several post-game poster signings and the booster club holiday party. Exuding a welcoming and gracious attitude, he has epitomized the efforts that organization has made to quickly establish themselves as a community focused franchised in their new home town.

In recognition of his efforts, Stephenson will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation prior to an upcoming Adirondack home game.

Stephenson is now one of 29 finalists for the AHL's 2009-10 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League in the coming weeks.

The Phantoms will hit the road at they battle the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday, March 26th at 7:00 pm at XL Center in Connecticut. Adirondack's next home game comes on Friday, April 2nd as they host the Syracuse Crunch for a 7:30 pm puck drop at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
